A lot has changed in the last 4 decades and that includes within the great outdoors and upcoming workshops will seek to account for those changes. Ashley National Forest is in the process of updating the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area Management Plan which was last completed in 1986. Since then, multiple new forms of recreation have developed and there is increased visitor usage that needs consideration. “The plan will be written in compliance with the 2012 planning rule and in coordination with the new Forest Plan,” shares the announcement, “to guide management activities to meet the expected recreational needs of visitors while sustaining the health of the landscape and ecosystem that attracts users to the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area.” Public meetings were held in 2022 and public comment was gathered on the Draft Management Plan. Now there is the opportunity to participate in workshops to provide additional input. The first workshop will be held on June 13th at 1:30 and 4:30pm at the White Mountain Library in Rock Springs. The second workshop will be held on June 14th at 9am and noon at the Dutch John Community Center in Dutch John.
