Two women were arrested this week after allegedly stealing property from a Duchesne County home owned by a man that one of the women is allegedly a caregiver for. According to the Affidavits of Probable Cause, officers were called on June 8th about a fire in the Fruitland area. Officers arrived to find two women burning items in a 50-gallon drum. The two women fled the scene. The investigation revealed that 2 houses, 3 campers, and 3 outbuildings had been entered and items had been removed. One of the missing items, a stolen generator, was observed connected to a trailer lived in by Haili Swain. Swain is on court probation so officers reached out to her and eventually she returned to the residence. She admitted to taking items with Charlene Dessaints, stating they stole a black trailer, household items, clothing, and other things. Dessaints was interviewed and she admitted to removing items from the homes, saying that the property was owned by a man she is a caregiver for. 20-year-old Haili Jean Swain and 63-year-old Charlene Dorothy Dessaints were both arrested on June 9th and are both charged with 2 counts of 2nd Degree Felony Burglary of a Dwelling and 2nd Degree Felony Theft, among other burglary and trespassing charges.
