The woman arrested in Uintah County last October for stabbing a man while camping accepted a plea deal this month and was sentenced ahead of her scheduled trial. On October 1st, the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office utilized social media to request the public’s help in locating Emily Trujillo, stating that she was last seen in the Dodds Hollow area on Taylor Mountain Road. It said to use caution and not approach her if seen but to call Central Dispatch with her location. What led up to this? According to the Probable Cause Statement, the stabbing occurred on September 30th. The victim told officers he had been camping with Trujillo and while they were camping, they went for a drive. “During the drive, [Trujillo] stabbed the complainant in the chest. The complainant went to the hospital where it was learned he had a broken rib and a punctured lung and pneumothorax. During the investigation, officers located [Trujillo’s] purse in the complainant’s truck. The purse contained a pipe that had methamphetamine residue.” Trujillo was located by officers and “admitted stabbing the complainant but said it was self-defense. When asked to explain what happened, [Trujillo] wouldn’t say anything.” 40-year-old Emily Ann Trujillo was arrested and was charged with 2nd Degree Felony Aggravated Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, 3rd Degree Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Just days before her scheduled trial, Emily Ann Trujillo entered a Guilty plea to Aggravated Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, amended from a 2nd Degree Felony to a 3rd Degree Felony. The accompanying drug charges were Dismissed with Prejudice. Trujillo is ordered to serve 150 days of jail time and was granted credit for time served beginning January 26th. Her restitution hearing is scheduled for July 7th.
