Crews have continued to diligently work on the Willow Creek Fire north of Strawberry Reservoir for nearly two weeks now. The fire was reported on June 6th and investigators have now determined it was caused by lightning. As of Sunday, the fire had burned 1,301 acres, though it had been several days since it had grown. Fire crews are focusing on a confine and contain strategy to remove hazardous trees and fast-burning fuels. The containment strategy has significant ecological benefits versus the usual full suppression. There remains a total of 91 personnel assigned to the fire with three engines, a hotshot crew, attack crew, and one helicopter.
