Drought will of course affect aspects of recreation this year. An update on Old Fort Ponds in Uintah County shares that drought impacts will be significant this year at the ponds. “We have added water to the big pond but have so little irrigation water, this year’s operations will be very different,” shares the announcement. “The muskie, bass, grass carp and catfish did survive the spring. We will only stock the big pond one time this spring with rainbow trout. The small pond will likely have no water this year. We will operate the ponds for as long as we can but will likely run out of our shares of irrigation water by early June.” Once the water runs out, the stocked fish will be relocated to other regional waters. In the meantime, gates at Old Fort Ponds are planned to be open soon so enjoy while you can!
