Perhaps you’ve seen the pictures and heard the news that the local National Guard unit recently completed 2 weeks of projects at the Vernal Regional Airport but what exactly did they do? The training mobilized 50 guardsmen from the 116th EN Company of the 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade to complete projects on the airport’s infrastructure. The vertical unit focused on refurbishing two bathrooms within the airport terminal; removing old tile and replacing it with new, as well as installing new toilets to give the terminal a fresh, updated look. The horizontal unit moved dirt on the old crosswind runway located on the east side of the airport to transform that area into a new dirt runway, enhancing airport capabilities. The training was a collaborative effort that all reported was a great success!
