Walleye Classic and Starvation State Park Family Fun Day

In typical fashion, Duchesne County has taken an already successful event and found a way to include all ages and interests. It all started over two decades ago with what is now the longest running fishing tournament in the state of Utah, the Walleye Classic at Starvation State Park. “That event started over 20 years ago and then the Duchesne Chamber decided to do something special for the families who came with the fisherman by putting on a fun day for all the families,” explains Duchesne County Chamber Director Irene Hansen. “Now both have turned into a huge destination event that fills up every improved site at Starvation and hundreds attend for the day.” For the fisherman in the family, the 23rd Annual Walleye Classic runs September 9th and 10th at Starvation State Park. For those that love a day on the beach with games and prizes, plan to attend Family Fun Day on September 9th starting at 10:00am. There will be a kids fishing derby, family games and contests, a recipe contest, and kids drawings for prizes. Contact the Duchesne County Chamber or visit
