Volunteers Needed ASAP For Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

If you’re looking for a flexible and rewarding volunteer experience, the VITA program is in need of volunteers. “The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program recruits and trains volunteers to become IRS certified in tax law who then help prepare individual income tax returns (Federal and State) FOR FREE,” explains UBAOG volunteer services director Lauren Schwanz. “It is an extremely rewarding volunteer experience and one which allows volunteers to directly see how their efforts were able to impact others in the community.” Volunteer training starts January 4th in Vernal and January 5th in Roosevelt. Tax preparation begins around the first of February and runs through April 18th. Volunteers are asked to donate 3 hours of their time each week during the 10 week tax season and the schedule is flexible. There are three tax site locations in the Uintah Basin and remote volunteering is also an option. Call Lauren with any questions at 435-722-4518. No experience is needed and you can sign up to volunteer at EarnItKeepItSaveItUtah.org.
