Another Vernal business is making plans to close its doors for good. Staples has begun informing clients that they plan to close their Vernal location in October. Last March, the company announced the closure of 70 stores in North America due to sales declines. Last year, Staples closed 48 stores and in the two years before that had shut down over 200 stores. The company explained last spring that they hoped to focus more on their smaller stores that have less employees. The Vernal Staples will join other stores that have closed this year in Vernal including PayLess Shoes and Kmart. Kmart’s closing was part of a Sears Holdings announcement of store closures nationwide, similar to the Staples closures across the nation this year.
