Vernal Regional Airport Runway Project Update

It’s been years in the making! A new runway is finally identifiable at the Vernal Regional Airport. While crews still have work to do, the Airport Management Team shares that there is finally finished asphalt on the runway. “WW Clyde and Burdick Paving continue to work very hard at finishing up all the asphalt on the taxiways and connectors with anticipation to have all asphalt done [this week] as long as the weather cooperates,” shares the announcement. In August, the Uintah County Commission announced that SkyWest Airlines was awarded the Essential Air Service contract with the Vernal Regional Airport to take over for Boutique Air in the spring of 2018. In the request to the Office of Aviation Analysis in Washington, D.C. to have SkyWest selected for air service, Commission Chairman Bill Stringer stated that construction on the new expanded runway will soon be complete. One of the appeals of this major investment, shared Stringer, “was the ability to attract reliable jet aircraft service into Vernal such as SkyWest.”
