An upcoming preparedness fair is aiming to do more than just help prepare locals for emergencies; a chunk of tickets sales will also go to a local family with mounting medical bills. Last summer, 11-year-old Brighton Wells became sick and within 24 hours was in liver failure and placed on a transplant list. Tests revealed that Brighton has a rare genetic disorder called Wilson Disease and in the weeks that followed, tests showed that two of Brighton’s younger sisters have the disease as well. Brighton received a liver transplant and has slowly recovered, though he and his siblings will have to carefully manage the disease throughout their life. The Vernal Preparedness Expo will be held January 28th from 8am to 6pm at the Uintah Conference Center. There will be amazing speakers and vendors from all over the country and a portion of ticket sales will go to the Wells family. Visit
