Vernal Police Chief Mike Gledhill has responded after an interview with the primary suspect in a Vernal murder was shared on the East Idaho News YouTube channel earlier this week. Chief Gledhill states: The suspect in the Kimberly Hyde murder investigation, Henry Resuera, participated in an on-camera interview with a media outlet that aired the evening of January 19, 2026. During that interview, Resuera claimed that he is not responsible for Kimberly’s murder and alleged that he was framed. We want to be clear. The Vernal City Police Department takes all allegations very seriously, and is committed to following the evidence. Based on the evidence currently available, Resuera remains the sole suspect responsible for Kimberly Hyde’s death. Several critical statements made by Resuera during the interview are contradicted by verified evidence in our possession. If at any time verified facts and evidence lead us in another direction, we will thoroughly investigate those leads and take appropriate action. Throughout the investigation, Mike Hyde has fully cooperated with law enforcement. Mr. Hyde voluntarily submitted to a polygraph examination administered by an independent, third-party law enforcement polygraph examiner. The results indicated no deception. This is a complex investigation with international components. We are anxious to present our case. We feel that this community deserves to know the truth and to see the evidence for themselves. However, at this time, we must maintain investigative integrity. That is our legal and ethical obligation. For that reason, we must remain mindful about which details may be publicly shared. We continue to work closely with our local and federal partners on this case. The partnering agencies include, or have included, the Roosevelt City Police Department, Naples City Police Department, Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, the Uintah County Attorney’s Office, the Duchesne County Attorney’s Office, the Office of the United States Attorney, the Utah State Crime Lab, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Each agency has contributed a great deal of time and effort. I am updated on a regular basis regarding the work being done by our investigative team, and I appreciate the time, focus, and dedication they continue to demonstrate while seeking justice for Kimberly Hyde and her family.
