Vernal Man Finding Success in Professional Opera Through Lyrical Opera Theater

A Uintah High graduate is making his mark in the world of professional opera and tomorrow there is an opportunity to check out his big talent. Jesse Toftum started singing in Junior High and enjoyed being part of choir and Hi-Lites with Mr. Merriweather and performing for All-State and Honors Choir, Showtime Uintah, and theatre productions including several with Outlaw Trail Theater. After graduating from Uintah in 2013, Jesse attended Snow College studying music where he was introduced to opera and found that he really enjoyed Wagner’s operas and started composing in that style. Fast forward to the present. Jesse is in his 4th season performing with Lyrical Opera Theater in Salt Lake City and currently in his first lead role professionally. The show is Rigoletto and Jesse plays the Duke. The show has been running all week and on Saturday, August 1st, there is a special facebook Live Stream of the show starting at 7pm. The show is free to view but donations are accepted. This is the last chance to see Vernal’s own Jesse Toftum in Rigoletto during this run. Visit www.lyricaloperatheater.com for more details. Congratulations Jesse Toftum on your success and for representing the Basin so well!
