A Vernal man has been charged with sexual crimes against a child for alleged events that took place in 2024 and 2025. 37-year-old Trent Sowsonicut is charged with two counts of 1st Degree Felony Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child and two counts of 2nd Degree Felony Forcible Sexual Abuse. According to court documents, Trent Sowsonicut occupied a position of special trust with the victim. The case was filed on February 9th and his initial appearance in court is scheduled for March 16th. Court documents accessed on February 13th state that the Defendant is not in custody.
