The American flags that line Main Street in Vernal on patriotic holidays are in need of some care and the Vernal Elks Lodge is inviting the community to donate to the cause.
“We would love to see our town in a sea of flags for the days we put up our flags,” shares Angie Cook with the Elks Lodge. “We have been great stewards of the 50 flags that are in our care, but sadly the setups we have are just getting worn out. We only zip tie our flags to PVC pipes and wood poles. The pipes are starting to crack at the bottoms, and the wood ones are the oldest of our flags and wearing out. The sets we are wanting to replace them with are very sturdy and run about $150 per set up.” The hope is to get enough to be able to at least line the parade route down Main Street on both sides in a sea of flags. Donations to the flag fund can be sent to the Ladies of Vernal Elks Venmo @LadiesofVernalElks-Love. If you would like to donate funds in any other form please reach out to Angie Cook, President of Ladies of Vernal Elks, at 435-219-2814.
