Vernal City Tips On Watering Lawns

Vernal City has some tips on water conservation while still having a plan to water your lawn. “We know the summer heat can be tough on lawns,” shares the announcement. “As temperatures rise, dry spots may start to appear, and it can be tempting to simply water longer or more often. Before increasing your watering schedule, take a few minutes to check each sprinkler zone. Broken heads, clogged nozzles, misaligned spray, or other sprinkler issues may be causing dry spots and wasting water at the same time.” Vernal City recommends that when you do water, try to water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler because this helps reduce evaporation, allowing more water to reach the roots. “Another simple way to help your lawn handle the heat is to raise your mower height to around 3 inches. Taller grass can hold moisture better, develop stronger roots, and help discourage weed growth.” Organizations may qualify for a free landscape consultation from Central Utah Water Conservancy District.
