The Vernal City Council meeting on Wednesday has several items of consideration concerning the water and sewer improvement project on 100 North and the transmission lining project on 3500 West. The meeting packet shares that on June 4, the CIB Board authorized a supplemental $265,000 loan for 15 years at 0.5% and a $619,000 grant to Vernal City for the projects. The original CIB funding was approved on June 5, 2025 when the CIB Board authorized a $1,671,000 loan for 30 years at 0.5% and a $3,899,000 grant to Vernal City. This brings the total project grant amount to $4,518,000 and a loan amount of $1,936,000 for 30 years at 0.5% interest. The water and sewer enterprise fund will pay the loan schedule. The City Council will also consider a change order that includes necessary additional work that has arisen since the project began. Several 6” sewer laterals were found that require a manhole at the main line, among other necessary work.
