Vernal City made sure the runners traveling through the area as part of the ‘Relay For America’ cross country flag relay felt recognized for their mission for national unity. The Relay for America organization was hosted for breakfast before they continued their journey east. “During the event, Vernal City Mayor Corey Foley presented the team with an official proclamation declaring June 20, 2026, as ‘Relay for America Day’ in Vernal City,” shares the announcement. “The relay’s stop in Vernal included a uniquely local twist. Several runners donned dinosaur costumes as they made their way down Main Street. The Vernal City Police Department joined in the fun by staging a lighthearted ‘arrest’ of the fastest dinosaur runner for speeding through Main Street. Following the mock citation, Mayor Foley issued a full pardon, allowing the runner to rejoin the relay and continue the journey toward Washington, D.C.” It was a memorable experience for all involved.
