The Vernal City Police Department annual awards banquet recognizes the accomplishments of the officers during the previous year. Among the awards presented were the following: Officer Ryan Cannon was awarded a Lifesaving Commendation for saving the life of a stabbing victim last May. Corporal Cody Barton was awarded Patrol Officer of the Year which takes into account a wide variety of criteria. Corporal Maryann Wangsgard received the Chief’s Award for her involvement with children and elderly adults both on and off duty. Detective Mike Tribe was awarded Officer of the Year and staff member Kim Boren was awarded Employee of the Year, both nominated and selected by the members of the department. The annual awards banquet is put on each year through the Vernal Police Officers Association. The banquet and awards ceremony was held at the Uintah Conference Center.
