A free community event is being held tonight as part of a unique project aimed at promoting recreation connections in Vernal City. “Vernal is one of three pilot Main Street communities for this Recreation Atlas Project, working alongside Cedar City and Parowan,” shares the project website. “The Utah Main Streets Program received a Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation grant to develop this project, and has contracted with a community and recreation planning firm, SE Group, to work with these three pilot communities…The outcome of this project will be a mapped atlas of Vernal’s outdoor recreation assets, along with tangible recommendations to strengthen connectivity between these outdoor destinations and Vernal’s Main Street.” Tonight there will be a fun opportunity to learn more and share your ideas about outdoor recreation in and around Vernal. The Outdoor Recreation Open House is happening on the patio with the Pteranodon behind Market On Main on the Cobble Rock Block from 4 to 6pm. There will be food trucks, lawn games, community input stations, and participant giveaways. The initial research and community engagement phase of the project is expected to last until May.
