NOTE: Vernal City’s contract only affects residential customers in Vernal City limits. The switch does not affect the RDT business contracts or any Uintah County(outside of Vernal City limits) customers of RDT. RDT will send out an announcement to residential customers in Vernal City limits in the first few weeks of March of how the transition will take place.

Vernal City Council held a quick meeting on Wednesday night. Approval of the contract with G&H Garbage to take over solid waste collection services this spring was the main action item taken. RDT, the current provider, also bid for the contract and while both providers bid below the existing rate, G&H had the low bid. RDT’s contract ends March 31st and G&H will take over on April 1st. The contract is for 3 years, ending March 31st, 2021, with the possibility of a two year extension. The monthly resident cost is $13.94 per can. That breaks down to the charge from G&H Garbage at $11.50 per month and $4.41 monthly for additional cans. The administration fee will be $2.44 per can and $0.19 per additional can. The fee for large city containers will be $269.91 per month.
