Vernal City Council Approves Small Cell Tower Ordinance

At the recommendation of the Planning Commission, Vernal City Council approved Ordinance 2017-11 which updates the code to allow small cellular towers in city limits and updates code on amateur radio towers. City planner Allen Parker explained to the council that the topic arose when a cell tower company by the name of Mobility contacted the City about adding several small towers around town. They are initially proposing 3 towers on behalf of Sprint. The council reviewed the ordinance at length ensuring that towers be made to blend in with other infrastructure and not emit sound. The ordinance also address HAM radio according to FCC regulations. The council approved the ordinance.
