Vernal City Announces Designated Areas Where Legal Fireworks Still Permitted

Vernal City has announced the areas where personal fireworks may still be used as statewide fireworks restrictions allow municipalities to make the designations. Vernal City’s announcement states that the Vernal City Mayor and Fire Chief carefully reviewed low risk areas. “Vernal has always been a community that values personal responsibility and individual freedoms,” shares the announcement. “Rather than placing additional government restrictions, the City has chosen an approach that allows families to continue celebrating Independence Day while encouraging everyone to exercise good judgment and common sense. We trust our community to make responsible decisions to protect lives and property.” Fireworks are not permitted on City-owned property, parks, school property, county property, vacant lots, fields, or other non-manicured properties. Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid aerial fireworks this year, as they present a greater risk than ground-based fireworks. If winds are high or conditions become unsafe, Vernal City strongly encourages all to postpone or skip lighting fireworks altogether. A few moments of caution can prevent a devastating wildfire. Vernal City’s professional fireworks show is still scheduled during Freedom Fest on Saturday, July 4 at 10pm. The America 250 Block Party in Vernal will also have a drone show on Friday, July 3.
