Good company, great food, and ambiance filled the Uintah Conference Center on Thursday night for the 68th annual meeting and awards dinner for the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce. Utah Department of Transportation Executive Director Carlos Braceras kicked off the event as the special guest speaker who delivered a powerful message on transportation needs statewide and within the Uintah Basin, driving home the message that seatbelts save lives by citing statistics. Among the many awards given, Mark Mason was presented as the 2017 Total Citizen of the Year. Mark is known around the area for a variety of things. He has worked in real estate, been a staple as the highest producing loan officer at Mountain America Credit Union, works for VTV Channel 6 as a sports announcer and show host, and has owned and operated multiple race events including the DinoTri, Moonshine 5K, and Santa Fun Run, as well as others. He’s a devoted father and when accepting the award, Mark gave his wife Lynise the credit for, well, just about everything. The wonderful couple remains active contributors to the community. Congratulations Mark Mason, Total Citizen of the Year.
