The Vernal Chamber Public Relations Committee presented a local couple with a Certificate of Appreciation for their decades of service during the Chamber luncheon this week. “For over 30 years, Ken and Marty Kay have lovingly collected and respectfully retired worn American flags, ensuring that each one is honored with dignity,” shares the Chamber announcement. “Through their work with the Vernal Elks Lodge—where Ken has been a member for 58 years—they’ve helped retire hundreds of flags every year.” As part of this recognition, the Kays will also be honored during the Veterans Day Flag Retirement Ceremony on November 11th, where over 400 flags they collected will be respectfully retired.
