Vernal PD made the following announcement on Tuesday: On September 4th, 2025, Vernal City Police officers responded to a local residence following a report of an unresponsive 3-year-old male. The child was transported to the emergency room and later flown to a Wasatch Front hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Following his death, the child was transported to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause and manner of death. Recently obtained results determined the manner of death to be homicide and the cause to be blunt force injuries. At the time of the child’s death, he was living with a caretaker. A thorough investigation was conducted by the Vernal Police Department, during which the caretaker was identified as the sole suspect. On December 22nd, 2025, 50-year-old Vernal resident Angela Accuttoroop was booked into the Uintah County Jail on charges of child abuse homicide.
