The state Department of Workforce Services has released the state employment summary for March 2017.  Employment grew by 3.2 percent meaning 45,700 jobs were added to the economy since March 2016. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 3.1 percent from the month before and approximately 47,700 Utahns were unemployed. Nationally, the unemployment rate decreased two-tenths of a percentage point from February to 4.5 percent. “Job growth continues at a firm pace, providing additional employment opportunities across multiple industries,” reports Chief Economist Carrie Mayne. “ Utahns looking to improve their employment situation should take advantage of Utah’s expansionary economy.” Updated county unemployment rates will be available later this week.
