Locals are busy harvesting their gardens and at just the right time as Utah State University Extension is offering a class for those that have never done canning before or just might need a refresher. Canning Class 101 is offering Water Bathing Class for teens and adults. It is the perfect start into the canning world. Participants will learn about the history of canning, how to safely preserve food , and then do some canning. There will also be a Kids Canning Class for those little ones wanting to learn. The adult/teen class will be Thursday, August 22nd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Western Park. The kids class will be on Friday, August 23rd from 3:30pm to 5pm at the USU Extension Office. Both classes have limited space and will cost $5 dollars per person. You can register by calling USU’s extension office at 435-781-5452.
