Do you happen to still have a Christmas Tree up and looking for something to do with it? The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has shared great ideas on what to do with a conifer tree that was used for Christmas. Consider turning the tree to a Christmas tree for songbirds. Move the tree to the yard or patio and decorate with either stale breads and bakery products hung by ribbons or string, fruits such as apples and oranges (cut in half), cereals of any kind, including Cheerios, oatmeal, grits or cornmeal (tied in net bags, strings of popcorn or cranberries, or peanut butter or nuts of any kind mashed into the crevices of pinecones If one lives in an area that doesn’t have many trees simply drive the tree into the snowbank and leave it for the birds to use. One could gather multiple trees, run a line of rope and lean the trees on the rope. Trees can also be recycled locally this month. If you have a live Christmas tree and don’t have a use for it, remove all decorations and drop it off at the Vernal City parking lot located at 100 West and 100 North.
