“Weird weather makes weird avalanches.” This is part of Craig Gordon’s message this morning concerning the Uinta Mountains. The Utah Avalanche Center report shares that High avalanche danger and human triggered avalanches are likely on steep slopes, especially those with recent deposits of wind drifted snow in the Uintas. Gordon’s report also emphasizes the Considerable risk even in the lower elevations due to recent rain on snow. “Human triggered damp snow avalanches, gouging into weak snow near the ground are probable on sustained, steep slopes.” Recreation is not recommended with the high avalanche danger.
