The Uintah Basin has been dealing with ozone-forming emissions but luckily we have several organizations that are working to solve this problem. Utah State University’s Bingham Research Center has teamed up with several local oil and gas industry partners. A USU press release shares that it has been a voluntary effort of both USU and industry to try to mitigate ozone impacts while minimizing costs to industry. “Air quality issues are multifaceted and impact the physical and economic health of our community,” shares Seth Lyman, director of the Bingham Center. “Emissions from the oil and gas industry are part of the equation, but meteorology also has an impact, so it’s imperative to be able to isolate contributing factors.” The efforts of everyone has been recognized by various entities with a number of awards including Leadership in Ozone Reduction Awareness given to industry partners and the Bingham Research Center receiving the Environmental Award from the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are extremely proud of the Bingham Center team for leading collaborative efforts with industry to solve real issues impacting our local communities,” states
