Uintah Special Service District 1 has issued their own message to the public regarding the vandalism on the Central Canal Company piping project on Kids Canal. “This is not just damage to a pipe,” shares the message. “This project represents a major investment by the Central Canal Company, Uintah Special Service District 1, Uintah County, Vernal City, and UDOT. There are many moving parts, a lot of coordination, and significant public and private dollars committed to improving this area for our community. USSD1 is committed to creating a space the community can enjoy while respecting the history of Kids Canal. That work is still in progress, and it has already required a tremendous amount of time, effort, and funding.” The message continues, emphasizing that “actions like this don’t just hurt a project. They hurt farmers, taxpayers, and the community as a whole. This will not be taken lightly.” Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vernal City Police Department at 435-789-5835. A reward is being offered for information leading to those responsible.
