Small changes each month added up in 2017 in terms of unemployment rates in Uintah and Duchesne County. The final data for the year shows that Duchesne County ended the year with a 5.2 percent unemployment rate. That is 2.2 percent lower than the 7.4 percent unemployment recorded one year earlier at the end of 2016. Similarly, Uintah County ended 2017 at 5.5 percent unemployment, a 2.4 percent drop from the 7.9 percent unemployment recorded in December 2016. Unfortunately, 2017 had the opposite effect in Daggett County, starting at 3.9 percent unemployment and ending the year at 5.5 percent. State unemployment for 2017 changed very little starting at 3.2 percent and ending at 3.1 percent while national unemployment fell from 4.7 to 4.1 percent.
