The group responsible for large amounts of fuel theft in northwestern Colorado are at varying stages of court proceedings. Steamboat Radio reports that two suspects remain in Routt County Jail, one got out of Moffat County Jail on bond, and another suspect is in custody of ICE. David Caboverde is charged with theft of up to $100,000 dollars and is in custody in Routt County. Osnel Perez Palacio is charged with theft up to $20,000 dollars and is in custody in Routt County. Victoriano Cayetano-Leon is charged with up to $5000 in fuel theft and is in ICE custody in Denver pending deportation to Mexico. Geomar Gomez-Hernandez was in custody at the Moffat County Jail but bonded out on January 26th. Geomar led police on a pursuit on December 26th after police responded to the Maverick Gas Station in Craig in response to an ongoing fuel theft case. On Highway 13, Geomar lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch. Deputies attempted to perform a high-risk traffic stop, but Geomar continued to flee. In the process, he reversed his vehicle, sideswiping one patrol car and crashing into another, disabling it. Despite the collision, Geomar regained control and continued the pursuit on Highway 13. The pursuit ultimately ended on Highway 13 near Moffat County Road 101, where deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop and apprehended Geomar. Three deputies were injured throughout the incident. Geomar Gomez-Hernandez is expected in court on February 21st.
