A new high school in Roosevelt also means major upgrades and additions to the high school sporting facilities. The new facilities will contain the very best stadiums and courts for the Union Cougar athletes. According to Superintendent David Brotherson, this will include a new turf football field, two new identical gyms, and six new tennis courts. The existing sports stadiums will remain as part of the new Union High School campus. These sports facilities combined will benefit Roosevelt’s overall economy by hosting sporting events and other competitions previously not possible. For instance, shares Brotherson, track and field requires an eight lane track for regional competitions which the new track accommodates. By hosting these tournaments and events, hotels and restaurants around Roosevelt will be receiving extra business by hosting athletes from other schools.
