After a delay due to the government shutdown, the Utah Department of Workforce Services has released updated unemployment data. September’s seasonally adjusted state unemployment rate was estimated at 3.4% with approximately 63,500 Utahns unemployed. The national unemployment rate is up a tenth of a percentage point at 4.4%. Northeastern Utah ticked up slightly in unemployment as well. Daggett County reported 4.1% unemployment. Duchesne County reported 3.9% and Uintah County reported 3.7%. The raise in county unemployment was comparable to the slight raise of a tenth of a percentage point in national unemployment. There will be no report on October’s unemployment data and November’s numbers are expected to be delayed with a release date yet to be determined.
