Uintah County has been hit hard with wildfires this week. The Lapoint-Tridell Fire Department has reported 3 in just a few days. “Over the past 24 hours, LaPoint-Tridell crews assisted Avalon Fire with two separate incidents,” shares their announcement. “[On March 24th] at approximately 11:20pm, we responded to the Pelican Lake Fire — an approximately 1-acre fire caused by an unattended campfire. [On March 25th] at 9:39am, we assisted again with a water truck fire near the Randlett Compressor Station. Thankfully, there were no injuries in either incident, and both fires were kept small thanks to a rapid response. With our extremely dry start to the year, fire danger is already high across the Uintah Basin. We strongly urge everyone to be fire wise and aware.” The third small fire reported by the Lapoint-Tridell Fire Department took place on Tuesday afternoon near 7550 East on Highway 40 where the heavy smoke temporarily shut down Highway 40 before being quickly contained.
