The Uintah School District shared on Tuesday that they are aware of a student-organized protest scheduled for Thursday and though the protest is expected to involve some Uintah High School students, it is NOT expected to take place inside the school or on the UHS campus. “The district cannot prevent students from leaving campus to exercise their First Amendment rights,” shares the announcement. “Students who miss class for any reason will be marked absent per the district’s regular attendance procedures. Decisions regarding whether absences are excused will remain with parents/guardians. Student and staff safety remain our top priority. District and high school administrators have met with local law enforcement and separately with protest organizers to gather information and discuss appropriate safety measures.”
