Uintah School District provided the following statement upon the request of Evans Family Media regarding an alleged hazing incident involving members of the boys basketball team in June: On June 18th, a parent reported a possible hazing incident to Uintah High School staff. The incident involved male student-athletes who were attending a summer basketball camp at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado, from June 16th through the 19th. The incident happened the night of June 17th, according to the parent who reported it. Police in Grand Junction were notified of the parent’s report. Questions about the law enforcement investigation should be directed to the Grand Junction Police Department. The safety of students remains the top priority. The high school and the Uintah School District continue to take appropriate actions to address the incident, in keeping with the district’s strict no-hazing policy. UHS and the district are working directly with those involved to ensure accountability, promote learning, and build a positive environment for our students moving forward.
