Uintah School District has expressed excitement over a new member joining the school resource officer team. A 2-year-old German shorthaired pointer named Remi has been assigned to Vernal PD school resource officer Cahill Oldham. Remi was originally from Poland but received her training in California. Oldham works in several of the schools throughout the district and stated, “We believe adding Remi to our team is a good preventative measure to keep our schools safer.” As of now Remi is a single-purpose K9 trained in narcotics detection. They plan in the future to train her to do tracking as well. Oldham and Remi will be available to help the school resource officers in any district school, if needed. The district and the community welcome Remi!
