Uintah Marching Band Wins State Championship

After sweeping their competition season, the Uintah Marching Band won the state competition over the weekend in St. George. The community, including past marching band members, cheered in person or watched online to witness the monumental first time win as state champs. Director Brian Gibson shared about the experience, having just finished the 19th competitive season of the Uintah Marching Band. With a drop in numbers and a fear the program may be dying, Gibson was unsure there was any hope of success for the marching band when they started out the season in May. What he didn’t account for was just how much grit the group would collectively have.  “I tell every band they are the best I have ever had, but these kids were something special,” shares Gibson. “Not sure we can ever recreate it.  Every time we thought we might be asking too much, they just did it. Every time they won they celebrated and then went back to work.” Congratulations to the Uintah Marching Band, the 2025 State Champions.
