The Uintah High School Marching Band took home top honors once again over the weekend in what has turned into their most successful season on record. The relatively small group that includes 7 color guard members, 13 wind players, 11 percussion, and 1 drum major have captured the judges interest at each competition with their show called ‘There is a Monster Under My Bed’ that was arranged by Randall Standridge.
They have placed 1st in every competition so far this season and received more accolades than any previous season. “The band is the smallest it has been in at least a dozen years, but they have worked very hard this season,” shares Uintah marching band director Brian Gibson. “I think the success they have seen is because of that hard work. We are not perfect by any means, but it has been a successful show in our division. The judges have had mostly positives to say, with things to work on every week, so we come home and tackle one or two of the things that need work then we go at it again. It’s been a busy season but it has been a rewarding one.”
The band has one regular season competition left happening next Saturday then it is off to State competition on November 7th. The community is welcome to attend the Uintah marching band’s senior night and review on November 5th at 6pm at Coach Belcher Stadium.
