Uintah High School English teacher Rachelle Durrant has an army in her corner that grows each school year and that army stepped up in a huge way recently to make sure she felt appreciated. Earlier this year, a student nominated Mrs. Durrant for the 2019 Norwegian Cruise Line Giving Joy Contest. Utilizing social media and with help to spread the word, the votes poured in for Rachelle and she made the winners list. Her husband Mark helps put this accomplishment in perspective. “The NCL giving joy contest had an amazing Gala event in Seattle to award 30 teachers with cruises,” shares Mark. “Included in that event was a local teacher, my wife, who has been with the school district for 21 years now. The community support of a small town in Utah allowed her to finish 19th out of 46,000 submissions.” The Durrants have sincerely expressed their gratitude for the votes and support! No word yet when they will enjoy their cruise but you can guarantee Mrs. Durrant’s army of students will be hoping for some souvenirs.
