Uintah High Athletics Makes Exciting Announcement For Girls Wrestling Program

Uintah High Athletics made an exciting announcement this week that is a major boost for the UHS girls wrestling program. Pending approval by the Uintah School Board, Gregg Stensgard will take over as the new head coach of Uintah girls wrestling. Stensgard served as the head coach of the Uintah wrestling program for 27 years, during which time the team had many state champions and All-American wrestlers, including the current Uintah boys wrestling head coach Phillip Keddy. Stensgard retired from teaching at Uintah High School last school year and many on the girls team took weight training classes from Stensgard. "I know about half of them and have worked with them in class," shared Coach Stensgard. "Many of them said they hoped I'd get the job when they heard I'd applied. I told them, 'You're going to be happy for a while, and then you're going to be mad because I'm going to work your tails off.' We're going to be in the best shape, the strongest team, and the best-prepared team every week, and that takes a lot of work." Welcome back to the Uintah team Coach Stensgard and good luck to the entire team this coming season.
