Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond reported last week on highlights within the Uintah Fire District in 2021. Total call volume was down from 2020 with a total of 491 fires. The highest call volume was for brush fires while false fire alarm calls were up from the year before. Volunteers put in over 1,320 public service hours with no pay and there was a total of 5,207 training hours recorded. 552 fire inspections were performed in 2021. Raymond said that the main highlight from last year was the fire truck donated to the Avalon Fire Department by CH4 and Finley. Looking to what’s ahead, the Fire District is working to obtain a life and safety trailer for the Ballard area due to the high volume of medical calls in that area. Finally, Raymond recognized Dewey Poulson for an amazing 68 years of service in the Fire District.
