The Uintah Fire Suppression Special Service District passed a Fire Restriction Order that there will be no Spring Open Burning Window through May 2026. The Order states, “Due to current and forecasted weather conditions coupled with the record dry vegetation conditions and extreme fire danger throughout Uintah County, Utah, the Uintah Fire District Executive Director has determined that measures must be taken to prevent the ignition of forest and rangeland fires. Therefore, pursuant to resolution number #2026-05, the following act is prohibited in the areas described below until rescinded by the Executive Director: No open burning(spring burn window) during the months of April 2, 2026 through May 31, 2026 except within established facilities in improved campgrounds or day use areas on public lands, or in permanently constructed fire pits at permanent private dwellings served by pressurized running water. The fire restriction order number 2026-05 will be unchanged and will remain in effect until May 31, 2026 or until rescinded.” This applies to all unincorporated private lands within Uintah County and incorporated city limits including Vernal City, Naples City, and Ballard City.
