Uintah County Working On Salary Range Adoption

A ‘Salary Range Adoption’ was on the agenda for discussion during Wednesday’s Uintah County Commission Work Session. “Salary Range Adoption is creating an updated range— minimum, midpoint, and maximum— for every non-elected position in the County,” shared Uintah County PIO Angela Hawkins ahead of the meeting. “The County has been working with the same range for each position since 2013. The objective is to be completely transparent with the employees, future employees, and the community.” Human Resources Director Tonya Craven presented the item to the Commissioners during the meeting, asking that the Commission review the material and place it on the next Commission meeting agenda. Commissioner John Laursen asked that it be sent out to department heads to review. At the end of the discussion Craven asked, “If we have department heads that their salaries are falling below with their amount of years and what not, would the commission entertain recognizing the budget being presented in an open meeting making any changes at that point in time as well?” The Commissioners said no as that would require a public hearing but could be evaluated next year.
