Uintah County Woman Steals Vehicle And Gets Arrested For DUI

A Uintah County woman was arrested and is facing charges after stealing a vehicle and then driving it while allegedly under the influence of drugs. 33-year-old Vanessa Gallegos was booked into Uintah County Jail on charges of felony Theft of an Operable Motor Vehicle and DUI for events that occurred on October 25th. According to court documents, Gallegos stole the vehicle within Vernal City. “A short time later [Gallegos] was pulled over in the vehicle for not wearing a seatbelt. [Gallegos] was slow to stop the vehicle and another officer intercepted her by parking in front of her vehicle. Officers noted [she] was pale in complexion, extremely confused, and slow to respond to questions. [Gallegos] told officers she was on drugs, specifically that she had recently used Methamphetamine and Marijuana. She also told officers that the car was not hers and that she had found the car with keys in it and started to drive.” Officers discovered Gallegos had active warrants out for her arrest and she was brought into custody.
