Uintah County Sheriff’s Office Announce Scam Alert

The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a new scam in the area, this time taking advantage of election season. “Our office just received a complaint about a potential scam involving a caller who claimed to represent the Republican Party,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “The caller asked the complainant for the proper spelling of their full name, then asked a few political questions before requesting that the complainant make a donation by providing all of their credit card information over the phone. This is a common tactic in phone scams.” The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that legitimate companies and government agencies will not call and ask for financial information over the phone. If you receive a call of this nature, just hang up the phone.
