There is plenty of buzz surrounding the announcement that evLABS, an electric vehicle manufacturer, is setting up headquarters in the Vernal area and Uintah County is among those excited for what this will mean. According to a press release shared on March 5th, Uintah County has been working with evLABS CEO James Lawrence for over 6 years during the process to make this a reality and see it as an opportunity to diversify the economy. “evLABs is a product of those efforts and a milestone in the process of seeing an increased interest of diverse industries looking to locate in our area,” shares the release. “Uintah County has always been known for the boom and bust cycle of the oil and gas industry in the Uintah Basin. Uintah County Commission and leaders have worked hard over the last decade to change this trend and help bring tech and manufacturing companies to the area to help with this diversification. All industries are important to our economy and helping our community and citizens thrive and maintain the lifestyle they enjoy in Uintah County.” Former Uintah County Economic Development Director Sylvia Wilkins knows first hand the efforts made and the significance of welcoming this new company to the area. “We are very fortunate to have evLABs choose to bring their world class manufacturing business to Uintah County,” shares Wilkins. “The product from this project will not only be used and benefit the Uintah Basin but will be utilized across the State of Utah and the Nation. This is an exciting milestone that will highlight a diverse industry in our community while bringing additional high paying job opportunities. I am very excited to welcome James and his team to our community and want to thank all those that have helped to make this opportunity possible.” It is estimated that evLABS will bring 100 new jobs to the community in 2022.
